Synopsis

Athena is tasked with safely delivering a prisoner to testify on a high-profile case. Meanwhile, a light plane is hit by a swarm of bees and sent careening into a passenger plane.

Trivia

• Showrunner Tim Minear confirmed that Gina Torres, who portrays Tommy Vega on 9-1-1: Lone Star, provided the voiceover that is heard at Emmett's funeral.
• The bee that Athena swatted at the beginning on board was confirmed to be the last one of the beenado crisis, according to Minear.

Cultural References

• The accident that Keystar Flight 63 gets into is very similar to the Aloha Airlines Flight 243 accident that occurred in 1988, as part of the plane's roof was torn off in both incidents and at least one crew member was killed after being sucked out of the plane.
• The 1985 film Cocoon and the 1986 film Platoon are mentioned during the conversation between Bobby and Brad at the Hotshots film set.

Continuity

• A flashback to Emmett Washington's funeral is seen. His death had previously been shown in "Athena Begins" and "Buzzkill".
