History[]
In "Red Flag", Wendall visited Bobby at his house, checking in to see how he was doing during the fire season. Bobby said he was doing fine and Wendall informed him that he was going out of town to visit his son's family in New Mexico. He said he would be gone a couple of weeks and wanted Bobby to fill in for him. While they were talking, Athena came home and Wendall was glad he got to say goodbye to her before he left. Bobby noticed something was off with Wendall and asked if he was doing all right. He answered it was maybe because of the Santa Ana winds and left the house.
Later that night, Bobby received an unsettling voicemail from Wendall. In the voicemail, Wendall sounded high, saying that he tried to be a good man but he was so tired now. Bobby tried calling Wendall back, but it went straight to voicemail. The following morning, the 118 responded to a fire near a residential area. After the fire had been put out, Eddie and Bobby found charred remains of a body. Bobby realized it was Wendall's after he recognized the watch Wendall was wearing earlier. He also spotted a syringe near the body.
Later on, Bobby discovered that Wendall lied to him about visiting his family and that Wendall hadn't talked with his family in weeks. Athena also informed him that the area where Wendall was found was a common place for drug users that was near a rehab facility. After visiting the rehab facility where Wendall had recently spent time before his death, Bobby became suspicious of the circumstances surrounding Wendall's sudden and mysterious death and began to look into it.
