Plot[]

Carlos goes to speak with the dying Grimes, who states he will only speak to Gabriel but is told that he was murdered last year. However, Carlos reveals that he is Gabriel's son and proves it to the skeptical man by showing his license, as Grimes notes on the resemblance and brings up how Gabriel talked about him. Grimes remarks that he considered Gabriel a friend while Carlos relates to him on their shared loss. The conversation shifts to Carlos revealing he thinks that Grimes' abduction and his father's murder are connected, and he wants to get them both justice. Grimes states Gabriel was worried someone would come after him, especially after several Texas Rangers ended up murdered by gangsters after being outed by a corrupt Ranger. Grimes remarks that Gabriel was correct to worry and it end up costing him his life, as the stunned Carlos asks who the Ranger is, as Grimes' condition worsens.

Soon Carlos stands frozen, as nurses pile in the room to tend to Grimes while Carlos' mind is flooded with memories of the talk. After he exits the room, Campbell and Bridges note on his mood before he reveals Grimes is dead, to their shock. Campbell notes that they could've used him further and inquire if the man said anything but Carlos stares at him intently. A flashback reveals Grimes used his dying breath to reveal that Gabriel warned him of the corrupt Ranger Campbell, who is supposedly connected to the murder of Carlos' father and responsible for the deaths of other rangers, leaving Carlos speechless that the culprit was in plain sight. After the flashback ends, Carlos lies and tells Campbell that Grimes said nothing.
