History[]

Season One[]

Carlos and TK first meet during a car accident where both the Austin PD and Austin FD are needed. Later, we see Carlos asking TK to dance whilst they are all at the bar at the end of their first shift. In Yee-Haw, it is shown that the relationship has evolved a bit further as they are seen hooking up. Carlos seems more into the relationship than TK does, calling for TK to text him before TK leaves his place for a shift. Later that episode, TK goes back to Carlos's place where the police officer has set up a dinner for them to share. TK freaks out at this due to what happened with Alex back in New York as he isn't ready for this. The pair argue and TK storms off. They are next seen together in Texas Proud after TK is arrested for a bar fight after an altercation with Judd. TK talks about his past to Carlos. Carlos and Michelle shared a scene where they talked about TK and Carlos said that TK is "a 10" and that "he can't get him out of his head". Michelle encouraged him to ask TK on a date. The pair are later seen at the bar together playing darts, and Carlos quotably asked TK out.

They are next seen together in Studs where they wait for Paul outside the fire station to take him out to a nightclub after a bad experience in his dating life. We see TK and Carlos being very couple-y with TK having his arm around Carlos waist as they enter the club.

In "Monster Inside", a call goes wrong when the 126 enter a house to help a man who suffered from cardiac arrest from stress of his house being invaded by a man suffering from dementia. TK used the battering ram on the door after they announced themselves but, by fear, the little boy in the room with his grandparents shot TK in the chest with his grandfather's gun. At the hospital, Carlos came to see TK when Owen was in the room and told TK's father he didn't want to impose when the man noticed him but Owen assured him that TK would appreciate Carlos coming to see him. Carlos sat next to TK's bed, caressing TK's arm with one hand while the other is caressing his hair. After TK recovered from his coma, we see the two of them at a juice bar where they talk about their relationship and how Carlos felt strong feelings when he wasn't sure if TK would wake up or not and TK answered that he still have to figure out if he wants to stay in that career and state before figuring out if he wants a relationship with Carlos. Carlos reluctantly agrees and when they start leaving, a bus accident happens right in front of their eyes. TK went to help the woman stuck in the bus with her two legs broken while Carlos took care of the people around the scene, waiting for the 126 to come and help them. TK ripped his stitches out after too much effort and Owen sent him to the hospital to have a look at that. After TK came back from the hospital, he tells the firecrew he made his decision and decided to stay in the 126 and after a talk with his father, he saw Carlos waiting for him at the entrance of the station where they share a hug. Later in the day, TK and Carlos are laying on the car's hood watching the aurora borealis due to the solar storm where Carlos asked TK what he's thinking of and TK answered that he thinks they make a "pretty good team" together, Carlos agreed and TK took Carlos' hand in his as they share a look.

Season Two[]

As of season two, the pair have been dating for four months, Carlos grew closer to TK and some members of the 126: Paul, Marjan and Mateo, as we see them all hanging out together at Carlos' house. Later in "Back in the Saddle", we see the couple flirt after TK and the rest of the 126 took down the person who was firing at Owen and Tommy. In "2100°", Carlos is seen at the firehouse with the 126 and their loved ones to celebrate Owen's remission. Later on, he and TK talk about Gwyn staying permanently at the Strand's house and TK says that Owen and Gwyn are in their "honeymoon period", Carlos answering that "those can last a while.". Then, TK asks Carlos when is he going to meet Carlos' parents but Carlos dodges the question and asks TK if he wants more punch. Later in the episode, after Tim's death, TK goes to Carlos' house and Carlos is waiting for him on his stairs, TK walks up to him and falls in Carlos' arms for comfort. Carlos doesn't appear during the crossover episode with 9-1-1 but TK mentions him to Buck when he tells him that he already has a boyfriend and that their relationship is pretty serious.

In "Friends With Benefits", we see TK and Carlos along with Paul and Mateo observing Marjan during a roller derby game. When TK goes to get drinks for them, the bartender flirts with him and Carlos interrupts him by saying that he's TK's boyfriend and that he's a cop and he says to TK that he likes people to know that TK is his. Later in the episode, while being at the farmer market, they run into Carlos' parents and Carlos introduces TK as his friend. The couple go back to Carlos' house and fight about what just happened, TK angry that even though Carlos is out to his parents, he still didn't introduce him as his boyfriend. Carlos tells him that it's more complicated than that and that his parents are more traditional than TK's and that he doesn't like to "rub their noses in it". TK is pissed that Carlos wouldn't want to "rub their noses in the fact that he [Carlos] have someone who loves him and who he supposedly loves back" and he leaves the house. After a discussion with his parents in the morning, TK goes back to Carlos' house and sit down to talk about their fight, then Carlos tells him that he came out to his parents when he was seventeen but that while they took it well, they never talked about it ever since. TK tells him then that he'll happily be Carlos' "friend, colleague or personal shopper" for as long as Carlos needs. In "Displaced", we see TK laying in Carlos's arms as TK questions if becoming a Paramedic was the right decision, Carlos tries to comfort him and gives him a kiss on the head. TK explain how he feels like Nancy has been tearing into him to which Carlos confronts him on Nancy's comment about the firefighters being "The cool kids" of the fire station, this makes TK come to the realisation that Nancy was right, blaming himself for not seeing it, to which Carlos comforts him telling him it's not his fault before kissing him on the cheek and cuddling up with him on the couch.

In "Bad Call", TK says that this past year, he has found an incredible man who showed him that it's okay to open his heart again while he and Carlos are smiling at each other and they share a hug in the background, before Carlos kisses his temple. After TK is saved by Owen and Carlos after being kidnapped with the rest of his crew, Carlos runs to him and let a concussed TK fall in his arms in relief, blurting a "hi baby" the second Carlos is close enough. They moved in together in "A Little Help From My Friends". In "Slow Burn", one night during the week, TK and Carlos are hosting dinner for themselves and Gabriel, Andrea and Owen. When they come inside, Andrea hugs TK and she apologises for calling him "TJ" the first time they met but TK brushed it off, saying that it was a common mistake. Later, Carlos realises that he forgot the limes for the margaritas and TK calls Owen to asks him to pick up some once he's done with what he was doing.

In "The Big Heat", Carlos comes by the firehouse to tell TK that Owen was arrested for arson, and TK tells him that Carlos needs to call his dad to clear everything up. Carlos tells him that the Texas Rangers were the ones who arrested Owen and that Gabriel was the arresting officer. TK tells him that Gabriel is out of his mind if he thinks that Owen is an arsonist and Carlos says that they don't have all the facts yet and that his father wouldn't make an arrest without good reasons while TK retorts that his father isn't a criminal. Carlos tells him that he never said he was while TK replies that his father does and it sounds like Carlos is defending him. TK asks how can Gabriel thinks Owen is the arsonist when they spent three hours together the other night making Carlos answers that it was actually an hour, because Owen was late and that he checked and that Carlos check on Owen's story to find that he was lying. TK shoves Carlos away three times by pushing his chest while asking him if he thinks that his dad is a criminal. Carlos catches him from behind and tells him to calm down while TK repeatedly tells Carlos that he needs to leave him alone. Judd intervenes and says that Carlos needs to go. Carlos leaves and we see TK with tears in his eyes. TK comes back home to Carlos preparing dinner for both of them after the firehouse blew up. TK starts talking about the other "blow up" at the firehouse - meaning their fight - but Carlos stops him and tells him that they agreed that no apologies were needed. At night, TK is struggling with the alarm that doesn't seem to be working and Carlos tells him that it's been acting up all day and that the company will come tomorrow but that they should go to bed. Once they're in the bedroom, they start making out but stop when TK starts smelling smoke from the fire downstairs. They both discover the fire and soon, the fire starts in the bedroom to and the only way out is by jumping out of the window. Carlos breaks the window with a chair and TK tells him to go first and that he'll be right behind him. Before leaving, Carlos turns to TK and starts stuttering and TK cuts him off saying that he loves him too. Right before they jump, Owen kicks down the door and gives them shirts to put on their noses and mouths before making them leave the house safely with the help of Billy and Judd. Once they're out of the house, TK asks Carlos how he's doing and Carlos says that he's good. He adds that he didn't think they were going to make it out of the house, Carlos starts apologising about not having a fire extinguisher in the room before starting to cry. TK hugs him and tells him in repeat that it's okay and that they're okay while kissing his faces multiple times.

Season Three[]

Unnamed

As of "The Big Chill", Carlos and TK are broken up. They first see each other in a furniture store after Carlos called in for cuts and bruises. Carlos stutters while trying to find a spot for them to work on while TK looks annoyed by the situation. When Carlos realises someone is missing from the shelter, he runs outside under TK's worried gaze. After TK is admitted at the hospital for severe hypothermia, Nancy calls Carlos saying TK wants to speak to him and once he's there, Carlos says that it's "typical of TK" to not talk to him for months but to call him the minute is in the ICU. Nancy tells him that it isn't exactly what happened and Carlos learns that TK is unconscious and on a ventilator. In "Shock and Thaw", Carlos is sitting at TK's bedside when TK's monitor starts beeping before standing up when a doctor and nurse come in. The doctor tells the nurse to starts pushing Epi and to get a crash cart in the room. Carlos asks her what's going on and the doctor tells him that TK's heart rate is too slow and that he's severely bradycardic. Carlos asks her if TK is going to be okay and the doctor pushes him out of the room so they can do their job. A nurse pushes Carlos out of the way while he's too focused on TK. Later, Dr Patel - TK's doctor - tells Carlos, Tommy and Nancy that they manage to get TK's heart back into rhythm. Nancy asks if that's good news and the doctor tells them that his body is still not compensating. Carlos asks compensating for what and Tommy explains to him that it means his vital signs haven't returned to normal, at least yet. Dr Patel tells them that he's been through a major trauma and that she's afraid is on the verge of multi-system organ failure. Carlos asks her about how they stop that from happening and she replies that unfortunately there isn't much they can do other than keep him sedated, to give his body a chance to recover without additional stress. Carlos asks if that usually works for someone in his condition, Dr Patel replies that it can and then Carlos asks what they're looking at here, realistically speaking. The doctor replies that they're looking closely at his labs, but if they continue trending down, she stops herself and Carlos realises that they could lose him.

In "Push", Carlos is in TK's hospital room when the nurses start talking about how they shouldn't have saved TK from his cardiac arrest in the snow because now, his coma is just torturing his friends and family. Later, Carlos brings his chair closer to TK's bed before starting talking to him. He tells him that he's been there for a while now and that he doesn't even know if TK wants him there but he's in no position to walk out this time. He continues by saying that Andrea was right and that he needs to tell him that he's still really mad at TK right now and that the worst part about this whole thing is that if this is goodbye, he can't even hold TK's hand, runs his fingers through his hair or kiss his head because he feels like it would be some kind of a violation. Then, Carlos appears in TK's coma dreams as he is talking to an unconscious TK and TK tells Gwyn that Carlos looks really mad. Gwyn confirms that he doesn't look particularly happy before asking TK what he did to "that poor boy". TK asks her why she immediately assumes it's his fault because there was blame on both sides. Gwyn reprimands him using his full name before saying that he didn't actually go with that line before telling him that whatever happened, he just has to own it. TK asks her why does he even have to tell her what happened because she already know, considering she's just a figment of his imagination. Gwyn replies that figment or not she's still his mother. TK agrees and starts telling about how after the fire, they moved in with Owen but we're still looking for a new place to live in and Carlos found a loft downtown with polished concrete floors, great light and in walking distance to amazing nightlife. When Gwyn tells him that it sounds fantastic, TK agrees and says that he was in love with it but they didn't want to lease it and that they were looking for buyers not renters. Gwyn finishes that they couldn't come up with the down payment because TK didn't have a good credit because of bad choices he made in the past so then they had to deal with their crushing disappointment - mostly TK's because Carlos said he didn't care where they lived as long as they were together - so they agreed to keep looking. Carlos, then, told him that he had found something, takes TK back to the exact same place and tells him that he went back, made an offer and bought it. Gwyn replies that it's so romantic and TK tells her that it was a power move, Gwyn continues saying that it also could be an unbelievable sweet gesture which TK agrees, it could be both, like a really sweet power move. TK says that Carlos didn't want him to feel like he was living in his space again so he put his name on the deed, making him half owner, even though he knew TK didn't have the money. Gwyn understands then that TK panicked because things were too good, that everything was perfect so he blew it up. TK tells Gwyn that he hurt Carlos so bad and he asks her what if Carlos doesn't take him back. Gwyn tells him there's only way to find out, he needs to wake up. Carlos is sitting at TK's bedside when he wakes up. He calls out for the nurses to come quickly. When TK tries to get rid off the ventilator on his mouth, Carlos grabs his hands to try to stop him before he's pushing out of the room by the nurses as they call for Dr. Patel. The doctor waves Carlos inside the room again where TK whispers a "hey baby" to Carlos before telling him to breathe when he saw how tense Carlos is. Then, he hold out his hand for Carlos to hold it, letting it fall when he notices Carlos doesn't move but Carlos reacts and takes TK's hand in his, following TK's movement when he put their linked hands on his chest, above his heart. Carlos starts caressing TK's hair before kissing his cheek, TK grabbing his shirt and then softly collapsing on TK while the other man hugs him back.

Weeks later, after they get back together during his hospital stay, Carlos brings TK from the hospital to the place he bought for them months ago when they broke up. Carlos covers TK's eyes asking to not peek. TK asks him if it's really necessary because he already saw the place and Carlos tells him that he hasn't seen finished. TK jokes about Carlos being a control freak before Carlos put his hand away, waiting a second and telling TK to open his eyes. TK smiles looking around their apartment, saying that it's so much nicer than he remembers it, then he notices his exercise bike and his throw blanket, jokingly asking if he break into his house and move him in while he was at the hospital. Carlos laughs and tells him that Mateo let him in. TK tells him that Carlos moved him in, Carlos agreeing to it before welcoming TK in their new home. They kiss and TK teases Carlos about being the world biggest control freak which Carlos replies to by saying that TK loves it, TK agrees and they kiss one more time before falling onto the couch. Later, Carlos is present at the opening ceremony of the 126, standing beside Grace, Charlie, Evie and Isabella as they watch Owen talk. At the party, Carlos is sitting next to TK talking to Marjan and Cole. Then, while TK is filling their glasses with punch, Owen joins them and asks them if the firehouse is still homey and that he didn't go too far in the remodel. TK replies that the firehouse looks exactly the same before Owen asks him, offended, if he's out of his mind. Carlos asks Owen if the subway tile on the backslpash is new and Owen thanks him for noticing and that he always wanted to get rid of it, almost making this whole thing worth it. Then, he's seen dancing with Marjan and TK and Jonah, holding his boyfriend with one arm.

In "Child care" Carlos is staying up late to solve an investigation on a girl who has gone missing, when TK comes out and in the process scaring Carlos, He asks if Carlos is coming back to bed but he is on edge about everything happening with this girl to sleep. TK moves in next to Carlos to see if he can help in anyway, they watch the clips of the girl being told what to do. Eventually we see TK asleep next to Carlos who is still looking over these clips until it is the morning and the sun is rising through the window.

In "In the Unlikely Event of an Emergency", the morning after Gwyn's death, Carlos comforts TK by telling him that he has no reason to apologise for his first travel to New York being for Gwyn's funeral and tells him that he's going to get some food for them and that he loves him. TK tells him that he loves him back and once Carlos leaves the loft, TK leaves to for the firehouse. Later, at the airport after Owen and TK missed their flight, Carlos asks TK where he was and TK replies that he was at the firehouse, he doesn't know why and Carlos is sad that there's nothing he can do to make TK feel better. He hugs him and tells him that they'll see each other in New York when Owen comes back. Carlos waves at TK when he's leaving. Later, Carlos is at the airport when he sees that TK's plane is about to crash and once he watches it landing on the tarmac he runs outside and hugs TK with a running-into-arms-hug and tells him that he felt guilty as he "was the one who put him on the plane", TK reassures him and tells him that he's fine, that the blood on his shirt isn't his and kisses and hugs Carlos one more time.

In "Riddle of the Sphynx", TK comes home from a NA meeting and when Carlos offers to make him some food, TK tells him that he already ate with Cooper after the meeting and that he asked him to be his sponsor. Carlos asks him what Cooper is like and TK replies that he has been sober since he could legally walked into a bar and that he always kept an eye on the program. He adds that Cooper made a great point that night by saying that maybe this second relapse was harder on TK because he didn't have his mother to help him through it this time. Carlos comes up to him and hugs him from behind, trying to comfort TK. TK tells him that he looked so sweet with his glasses on his tablet, looking up articles to help TK with his recovery and Carlos replies that while he isn't in the program, he's there for TK if he ever want to get something off his chest. TK says that there's something he wants to get off Carlos' chest, Carlos pleads him to not say it's his shirt but TK says it is. That night at 3:13am, Carlos wakes up when he hears TK in the living room and realises he's not in bed anymore and find him on the phone with Cooper where he thanks him for picking up because he really needed to talk. The next morning, while Carlos is doing yoga, TK joins him and starts making his bag for the day, Carlos points out that he looks nice before worrying that he missed a date they're having, TK tells him that he hasn't, he's just going to a meeting. Carlos says that he already went to a meeting today and TK says he needs to go to another one. Carlos asks him if something's wrong and TK says he usually only know what's wrong once he's speaking up in front of the room and that Cooper will be picking him up to go there. Right after, Cooper knocks on the door and Carlos opens him, realising that Cooper is handsome before welcoming him in. Cooper tells him that TK raves about Carlos and then after they talk for a bit, TK and Cooper leave for the meeting. That night when TK comes home from the meeting, he and Carlos get into a fight over Cooper because Carlos feel like he's getting pieces of TK that he doesn't have and TK replies that he has all of him and that the only reason Cooper is important to him is because he understands what TK is going through in a way Carlos will hopefully never understand but that going to meetings and being home late is the reason why TK is able to come home to Carlos every nights. Later that week, Carlos comes home to TK looking through photos albums of him and his mother and he tells Carlos that he remembers how happy he was at that time of his life and he wishes he could be happy like that again, worrying Carlos. Because of that, Carlos decides to call Cooper himself because he realises that they were some things about TK that he won't be able to understand like Cooper does but that it's okay. Before he leaves, TK tells Carlos that he loves him and Carlos replies that he knows.
