Russell Byrd was a minor character on 9-1-1. He was a member of Station 221 of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

7.1 Earthquake[]
During a rescue attempt at a hotel affected by the 7.1 earthquake, he was trapped in the rubble following an aftershock. Fellow firefighter Henrietta Wilson was also trapped but uninjured. Russ informed Hen that he was not supposed to be on duty that day and had gone to the hotel to help in any way that he could after hearing news of the earthquake. Hen attempted to help Russ, but she realized nothing could be done to save him, and she watched Russ's final moments before he succumbed to his injuries.
