Past is Prologue is the ninth episode of the fifth season of 9-1-1, and the sixty-ninth episode overall. It aired on November 29, 2021.

Synopsis[]

Bobby and the 118 race to the rescue when an abandoned oil well erupts and causes a massive sinkhole in downtown LA. Athena investigates a 30-year-old cold case involving a casino robbery. Buck fears his relationship with Taylor might be ending, and Hen meets a man from her mother, Toni's, past.^[1]

This episode was originally going to air on November 15, 2021 but it was replaced with "Defend in Place". ^[2]
Hen mentions Abby in this episode, after Buck indirectly mentions her by describing the time she had left him behind at the airport.
The scenes at the casino were filmed at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.
Despite leaving the series in the prior episode, Rockmond Dunbar (Michael) is still credited, although this would be the last episode.
