Losing her Sister[]

Three years prior to the series, Michelle's sister Iris had disappeared after a fight at her ex-boyfriend, Dustin Foster's house. After an argument, she left in a blue pickup truck, never to be seen again.[1] Iris had tried to call her three times, but she hadn't picked up.[2] Michelle would then blame Dustin for murdering her, though there was never any solid evidence of any foul play towards him. Despite that, the struggle over the cold case grows into an obsession she struggles to control and she harasses Dustin continually leading to her being arrested.

She finds a picture of Iris and other people with a blue pickup truck and tells Carlos about it so he can do some more research on this. After helping a dad and his daughter at a homeless camp, Carlos finds her and tell her that they identified the owner of the truck on the picture. They meet up with Detective Washington because it's her case and she tells them that she will look into it. Washington asks Michelle to come down to the station where she tells her that she spoke with Arlene, the owner of the blue truck which was stolen by the man she was living with at the time who disappeared on April 19th, 2017, the same day of Iris' disappearance. Michelle and Detective Washington both go to the bar where Wade was last seen and ask the bartender questions about Iris and Wade. He tells them that they started fighting but left when he called the cops. The Detective called Michelle and tells her that they found the truck after what seemed to be an accident.

In "Monster Inside", Michelle and Carlos go to check out the truck and the items they found in it. Washington asks Michelle if she recognises anything that could've belong to Iris and she finds a bracelet that was given to Iris by their father. Washington calls Michelle to the dispatch center where one of the phone they found in the truck called 9-1-1 multiple times, sounding paranoid and Michelle recognises Iris' voice in the calls. The Detective then tells Michelle that the kind of mental illness she suspects Iris to suffer from often doesn't present in women until their late 20s. Michelle then speaks to her mum about her latest discoveries and tells her that Iris shown signs of schizophrenia.

In "Austin, We Have a Problem", Michelle gets knocked out by a man looking for a drugs in the van she used to go to the homeless camp. When she wakes up, she found out that Iris brings her to her tent where she's been staying since she disappeared. Michelle hugs Iris tightly when she realises who's in front of her. Michelle takes Iris to the hospital after convincing her to come, quickly joined by their mother who hugged her. When Iris finds out that Michelle lied about her only taking her to the hospital and didn't mention the fact that she was going to stay away from her camp indefinitely, she runs out of the hospital room and stopped when their mother called out her full name and gives her a blanket before allowing her to go back to her tent at the camp. At the end of the episode, Michelle goes back to Iris with some things and Iris tells her that it's a nice night for a picnic so Michelle sits with her to eat.
