Michael & Athena is the relationship between Michael Grant and Athena Grant from 9-1-1.

Overview[]
Michael and Athena were married for fourteen years before Michael came out to Athena as gay. They were implied to be happy in all those years. She was shocked and felt angry and betrayed by Michael. The couple went to therapy and attempted to maintain their marriage for the sake of their children, but Athena eventually realized that they would have to divorce or she would become too resentful and hateful towards him.
Following their divorce, Michael and Athena remain close friends. They are able to co-parent well and still have conversations regarding the children or their activities. Athena once humiliated a pair of dirty cops for threatening Michael and the kids. When their son was kidnapped, Michael was fully aware that Athena would not stand by and correctly guess she had a plan. Despite their closeness, he was shocked to learn that Athena was previously engaged to another man and complained on how she hid this fact from him. However, Bobby pointed he had hid things from her, so he couldn't be too upset.
Michael Coming Out[]
The couple are first seen together in their house. At this point, Athena already knew Michael was gay, but they have been keeping it a secret from their kids, May and Harry. Their kids can sense something is wrong between their parents, and Michael decides it's time to come out to them. Athena isn't on board with this, but Michael does it anyway.
Athena, while supportive of his sexuality, was still angry with him as she truly believed the only reason why her husband didn't look at other women was because she was his true love. They try to make their marriage work for their kids and eventually go to couples therapy. When May attempts suicide, they have to put aside their issues to focus on their daughter.
