Marvin Chavez was a character on FOX's 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. He debuts in the second episode of the second season of 9-1-1 and is portrayed by guest star Julian Works.
History[]
Early Life[]
Marvin and his family took Mateo in after he went to the US until he was 16 years old. During that time, Mateo was getting in a lot of trouble and when he painted a school in pink paint before setting it on fire, he almost got caught and sent to jail which would've have ended up in him being deported back to Mexico. Marvin, then, decided to take his place and falsely confess to the crime which ended up with him being sent to juvie.
Earthquake[]
In "7.1", Marvin was pursued by the LAPD and escapes, but was ambushed at home by Athena Grant for grand theft auto, joyriding and fleeing arrest, who cites him as a repeat offender and will be facing more severe charges this time. Marvin then claims his mother's reprecussions would probably be a step ahead of the authorities. As Athena drives him to custody, Los Angeles was struck by an earthquake and her vehicle narrowly avoids falling from the freeway. She soon discovers a burning car with a trapped driver. When fire extinguishers prove ineffective on the vehicle, Athena eyes a nearby cement truck whose keys were held by someone on the other end. With no other options, Athena is forced to briefly release Marvin, warning him to cooperate with his skills or face the wrath of authorities. He successfully opens and hot-wires the vehicle before positioning it near the burning car, then helps Athena to push its chute in place. A worker activates the mixer, eliminating the fire. As more LAFD units arrive, Athena leads Marvin back to her patrol car, and promises to put in a good word for him during his trial.
Death[]
He reappears in "Double Trouble", where he calls Mateo from jail due to joyriding again. He bail is set at $25,000 and he asks his cousin to help him out again. Nancy helps and loans him the money. Unfortunately, as soon as Marvin got out, he stole a Porsche and crashed it, causing his death.

Trivia[]
- Julian Works, who portrays him, would later star in 9-1-1's spinoff series 9-1-1: Lone Star as rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez. Their resemblance was explained in a throwaway line at the end of the Season 2 crossover episode Hold The Line, where Mateo asked Buck to check in on his cousin.
