Iris Blake is a recurring character on FOX's 9-1-1: Lone Star who is the younger sister of former EMS captain and paramedic, Michelle Blake. She debuted in the eighth episode of the first season of 9-1-1: Lone Star and is portrayed by Lyndsy Fonseca.
History[]
Early Life[]
Iris is born to Theresa Blake and an unknown man who died prior to the show. She started to study in medical school to become a doctor when her sister, Michelle, became a paramedic. She married her best friend, Carlos Reyes, when they were both feeling lost and they intended to get a divorce when they realized it wasn't working, but never got to. At an unknown point, she started dating Dustin Shepard and began to show signs of schizophrenia.
Disappearance[]
Three years prior to the series, Michelle's sister Iris had disappeared after a fight at her ex-boyfriend, Dustin Shepard's house. After an argument, she left in a blue pickup truck, never to be seen again. Iris had tried to call her three times, but she hadn't picked up. Michelle would then blame Dustin for murdering her, though there was never any solid evidence of any foul play towards him. Despite that, the struggle over the cold case grows into an obsession she struggles to control and she harasses Dustin continually leading to her being arrested.
In "Monster Inside", Michelle and Carlos go to check out the truck and the items they found in it. Washington asks Michelle if she recognizes anything that could've belong to Iris and she finds a bracelet that was given to Iris by their father. Washington calls Michelle to the dispatch center where one of the phone they found in the truck called 9-1-1 multiple times, sounding paranoid and Michelle recognizes Iris' voice in the calls. The Detective then tells Michelle that the kind of mental illness she suspects Iris to suffer from often doesn't present in women until their late 20s. Michelle then speaks to her mum about her latest discoveries and tells her that Iris shown signs of schizophrenia.
Being found[]
In "Austin, We Have a Problem", Michelle gets knocked out by a man looking for a drugs in the van she used to go to the homeless camp. When she wakes up, she found out that Iris brings her to her tent where she's been staying since she disappeared. Michelle hugs Iris tightly when she realizes who's in front of her. Michelle takes Iris to the hospital after convincing her to come, quickly joined by their mother who hugged her. When Iris finds out that Michelle lied about her only taking her to the hospital and didn't mention the fact that she was going to stay away from her camp indefinitely, she runs out of the hospital room and stopped when their mother called out her full name and gives her a blanket before allowing her to go back to her tent at the camp. At the end of the episode, Michelle goes back to Iris with some things and Iris tells her that it's a nice night for a picnic so Michelle sits with her to eat.
Reconnecting with Carlos[]
Iris reappears in "The New Hotness", as it is revealed that Carlos married her a while ago. Carlos visits her at Sanctuary Hearts where she works and is doing a lot better than when she last appeared. Iris is happy to see him but slaps him for not reaching out earlier. They catch up and she reveals that she already knows the main reason why Carlos came to see her: to sign the divorce papers. However, before she signs them, she wants to meet TK.
In "The New Hot Mess", she's at their place to meet TK, she questions him a lot, upsetting him a little despite him not showing anything apart from tight smiles and short answers. When she asks why they want to get married, Carlos replies that they do because they love each other and wany to spend the rest of their lives together, that it's not more complicated than that. Iris says it is because Carlos is already married, Carlos agrees and reminds her that it's what she's here for. To sign the divorce papers. Once Iris asks TK the divorce papers, he brings her but she doesn't sign them immediately because she needs to read them over and put them in her purse along with pastries and she leaves the loft after telling TK he is "exactly what she expected".
Later that day, TK goes to the homeless shelter where Iris works and asks her if he can talk to her, wondering if she reads the divorce papers yet. She replies that she did but that she thinks it's a mistake. TK tells her that it isn't a mistake, that he and Carlos aren't a mistake. When she continues by saying she won't sign them, TK replies that he knows Carlos loves and cares for her but they cannot stay married because Carlos is gay and he's TK's. Iris replies that she knows and when TK asks her why she still won't sign them, she tells him that she won't sign them because TK shouldn't be Carlos' second marriage, he should be his first and last and that's why they'll get an annulment instead of a divorce. TK smiles at that and then hugs her. Then, before she leaves, he asks her what she meant by "he was exactly what she expected" and she tells him that he's a hot mess, that Carlos always needs a project, the more tragic - the better. TK asks her if that's what she thinks he is to Carlos and she replies that he isn't, that he could be Carlos' life project instead.
At night, after Carlos gets a call from a detective, it appears that she has disappears, leaving her car with the divorce papers signed in it at a homeless people camp. The next day, Iris calls 9-1-1 and she tells Grace that she has been abducted. With her indications, she managed to give clues about her location to Grace and Carlos who comes to save her along with the SWAT and Austin PD. At the hospital, Carlos and the detective ask Iris questions. She tells them about a man with a burned hand who came up to her at the camp and threatened her with a knife to get her into the car. Out of her room, Carlos tells the detective he knows she doesn't believe Iris and the detective tells him that she believes the evidence she has which are that they didn't see anyone coming out of the house that day thanks to the drone they had and that there isn't any other exits. Carlos goes back to the hospital room and asks her if there's any chances her mind is playing tricks on her but Iris tells him that she can still see and smell the man on her and that she has been taking her meds. She adds that sometimes she doesn't know if what she sees is the reality or not and it's tiring and Carlos hugs her, kissing her head. Seeing that she may be truthful, Carlos does an off the book investigation and finds an underground tunnel to another house, revealing why nobody saw the kidnapper leave the house.
During Abandoned, Carlos ends up being abducted by the man, a murderous pharmacist named Darryl who along with his mother targeted mentally ill women such as Iris and Donna Burton, the girl she was searching for. Darryl even had a burned hand like Iris described. However, TK and Carlos' father saved him just as he was going to be killed. Darryl and his mother are arrested while Carlos is recovered from his abduction by TK and Gabriel. It was mentioned Iris and Andrea are preparing his hospital room.
As of In Sickness and In Health, Iris attended Carlos and TK's wedding. She was seen smiling at the pair during the ceremony.
