Season Two

Season Two is the second season of 9-1-1: Lone Star. It was first announced on March 9, 2020. ^[1] with the official announcement following on April 13, 2020.^[2]

The season premiered on January 18, 2021 with "Back in the Saddle" and ended with "Dust to Dust" on May 24, 2021.

Production of the second season began on October 12, 2020 ^[3] and ended on May 18, 2021. ^[4]

Synopsis[]

As Capt. Owen Strand welcomes newcomer Captain Tommy Vega to the 126, he must face the unexpected arrival of his ex-wife, Gwyneth, who visits Austin to check on their firefighter son, T.K., following the injuries he sustained at the end of last season. All of this occurs as the rescue squad must deal with an emergency that the Texas capital has never encountered before.^[5]

Confirmed Storylines[]

A crossover episode with its original series, which earlier on had been considered "inevitable" by Tim Minear, was confirmed to be in the works on November 22, 2020 when actors Ronen Rubinstein, Brian Michael Smith and Oliver Stark, who stars as firefighter Evan Buckley on 9-1-1 posted promotional photos of said episode. ^[6]
- This episode will also be set in Texas and not Los Angeles.
More on Carlos's backstory will be heard this season. ^[7]
The spring premiere will focus on Judd and Grace's relationship, and how they met and eventually fell in love. ^[8]
- The episode's flashbacks will take place 18 years prior to the series. ^[9]

		The 126 arrive at a funeral where another dead body has crashed the burial, and then to a hospital where an MRI has gone haywire. Meanwhile, T.K. makes waves in his new position.

Also, Carlos finds himself working on a case with his Texas Ranger father.

Trivia[]

Below are the changes made to the main cast this season:
- Following her character's departure in "Austin, We Have a Problem", Liv Tyler (Michelle Blake) has been removed from the "starring" credits. It was announced on September 22, 2020 that her departure was due to COVID-19 concerns.^[24]
- Gina Torres is cast as a series regular for her first appearance as paramedic Tommy Vega.^[25]^[26]
  - As of "Back in the Saddle", she is credited as a series regular.
Writing for this season began sometime during the week of May 16, 2020.^[27]
Tim Minear confirmed on May 23, 2020, that 9-1-1: Lone Star would feature backstory episodes similar to the ones seen on 9-1-1 during Season 2. ^[28]
On September 3, 2020, it was announced that Gina Torres will join the cast as paramedic Tommy Vega. ^[29]
On September 25, 2020, it was announced that Lisa Edelstein had been cast in a recurring role as Gwyneth Strand, who is Owen's ex-wife and TK's mother. ^[30]
On October 8, 2020, it was announced that Derek Webster had been cast as Charles Vega, the husband of paramedic captain Tommy Vega. ^[31]
