Synopsis[]

Halloween finds the first responders racing to the rescue at a cemetery, a haunted hayride and a spooky Hollywood parade; Meanwhile Maddie thinks she has received a "ghost" call from a missing hiker; Hen finds herself facing with a life or death situation with the father who abandoned her; Eddie reconnects with his estranged wife.[2]

Full Synopsis[]

Buck narrates on the nature of his career regarding the confrontations with inevitable deaths. Barbara pays respects to her deceased parents Edward and Margaret Milford and laments on how she had to sell the family house, begging for their mercy as she was just as affected as they would have been, if they lived. She gets spooked when a dirt-covered straggling man looking for rescue grabs her, screaming as she dials for emergency services.

The 118 arrive and Bobby learns from the cemetery manager that while Mrs. Mandechek's burial site was being prepared, Elisio and Starvos were dragged inside. Elisio, who was given first aid, tells Bobby the collapse occurred unexpectedly around 30 minutes ago. Chimney identifies their location as a precarious sinkhole while highlighting a backhoe. The team approaches the site, but Bobby stops Buck from jumping in as a secondary incident can occur. Unable to proceed normally, Bobby resorts to using a thermal imager to locate Starvos among the coffins and air pockets, much to Buck's disgust. After finding Starvos, Bobby orders the team to begin working with shovels, buckets and other excavation tools, while Elisio looks on. One of Buck's pickaxe swings results in an unexpected collapse, and while everyone is fine, Chimney realized they can't continue. Finding the keys still inside the backhoe, Hen resolves to employ it as everyone else vacate the area, with her pulling a large piece of debris via the bucket. With the area cleared, they jump in and dig with their hands, eventually pulling Starvos out of the dirt. They secure him to a backboard and transport him away. Buck praises Hen for her valor, who dismisses it with another claim regarding disturbed ghosts chasing them home. Confused, Buck is surprised when the backhoe itself also falls victim to the sinkhole, before leaving with the team.

Hen is shocked by her gravely ill and estranged father, Bryon Wilson, who ditched her family when she's nine ended up at the hospital near them.
