Synopsis

The 118 springs into action when a city-wide blackout and a record heatwave causes mayhem in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Chimney confides in Hen about Maddie's condition and Athena's worst nightmare comes true.

• It has been five days since the events of "Panic", as referenced by the fact that Detective Ransone had been found in McArthur Park five days prior by some kids after having his throat slit by Jeffery Hudson's lawyer in the previous episode.

Cultural References

• When Hen says "clever girl" when surprised by the second Alpaca this is a quote from the film Jurassic Park, when a second velociraptor surprises a man distracted hunting a different one.
  • This line is so iconic it was even used as the title of an episode in the Netflix series.

• Another reference to Jurassic Park is made when Chimney says, "After careful consideration, I've decided not to endorse this park."
