Life and Career[]
An undeniable talent on the rise, actress Corinne Massiah has quietly amassed an impressive body of work, encompassing captivating characters she has brought to life.
Massiah currently plays Angela Bassett's daughter, "May Grant," as a series regular in the Ryan Murphy executive produced series, 9-1-1. The series finished the 6th season on the Fox Network and will now be airing subsequent seasons on ABC. This action-drama explores the high-pressure experiences of the first responders who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking, and heart-stopping situations. Massiah's character, "May", plays an active role as a 9-1-1 dispatch operator, alerting the crew of incoming emergencies, putting her in a high stakes environment.
Growing up as a twin, Corinne's parents thought it would be a good outlet to put her and her sister into acting classes to burn off steam, shifting their sibling energy into something other than each other. After taking her first acting class, Corinne realized that she absolutely loved performing on a stage in front of friends, and relished the idea of being able to play different characters. Memorizing lines came easy, and she looked forward to having scene and monologue showcases at her acting studio.
Massiah made her television debut when she booked her first audition at 8 years old on the CBS crime-drama series, CSI: NY. She then followed it up with a guest-star on NCIS. Massiah would try her hand at television commercials by booking several spots for AMERICAN GIRL DOLL, PROGRESSIVE and AT&T.
During this time, she would land her first major role as a series regular in the Kevin Hart sitcom pilot, KEEPING IT TOGETHER, for ABC. The pilot would also star Romany Malco. The pilot was unfortunately not picked up, but the experience proved invaluable and would help drive her momentum forward. This led her to booking a strong supporting in the feature, ADVENTURES IN LOVE & BABYSITTING, as well as, a major recurring role on the ABC series, MISTRESSES, which she was on for four seasons. She followed with recurring roles on the Dan Fogelman executive produced Fox series, PITCH, and the ABC series, SECRETS & LIES.
Other notable work includes playing the daughter to Dwayne Johnson character in the action adventure film, G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, directed by John Chu. She also had a small supporting role in the Neon/Hulu's critically acclaimed horror-comedy BAD HAIR, directed by Justin Simien. The film starred James Van Der Beek, Vanessa Williams, Jay Pharoah and LenaWaithe.
Corinne absolutely loves dogs, especially her rescue poodle named Scooby! Her dream is to one day have her own humane animal rescue facility.
