"I know people are flipping out isn't it great."
—Chad

Chad is a minor character in 9-1-1. He died when his lap bar malfunctioned on a roller coaster.

History[]

In "Let Go", Devon and his friend, Chad are in line for a rollercoaster. Being afraid of having pressure on his stomach, Devon refuses to go on it but Chad keeps pushing for him to do it. There are two girls in line with them, and Chad says they will humiliate them online if they back out, which finally convinces Devon to go on the ride. They get strapped into the ride, but the staff fails to make sure they're properly secured. This causes the lap bar in Devon and Chad's car to release and the latter is thrown off the ride. The ride gets stuck on a loop, causing the riders to hang upside down. Devon is hanging onto the kart. The 118 arrive to help and Buck is tasked to help the riders. Chimney and Hen check on Chad, but he had died on impact. Bobby had them pretend he survived to avoid further panic from the other riders and told the team to load his body onto a gurney. Buck lies about Chad's death to avoid Devon being more afraid than he already is. Devon gets embarrassed once he sees the crowd watching the rescue, becoming fearful this will all end up online. Buck does his best to encourage Devon to grab his hand, but he is too afraid and loses his grip, dying from the fall. This traumatizes Buck as it is his first loss on a call and Devon's sister, Liz blames him for his death.
