Amir Casey is a character on 9-1-1 who is a burn unit nurse.
History[]
Amir first appears when he's watching over a kidnapping victim in the hospital. He meets Maddie and they become friendly. Once the victim's baby is found, she is brought in by Bobby, whom Amir apparently recognizes.[1]
After seeing Bobby again, Amir attends an AA meeting that Bobby frequents . He begins to explain that he shouldn't be there as he almost lost his life in an apartment fire in Minnesota ten years ago. This same fire killed his wife, who never made it to the hospital. He shares that the person who caused the fire just walked away unscathed. Bobby quickly realized Amir lived in Minnesota like him and was scarred from the apartment building fire that he unintentionally started. Bobby then searches for him to make amends. However, Amir went on a mission in another country, so Bobby decided to follow him.
After the destruction of her home and hospitalization of Bobby, Athena suspected Amir of being the cause. When confronted, he asked what evidence is there and she brings up his resentment towards Bobby. She understood the supposed motive by sharing her own loss, something Amir empathized with but while he admits his resentment towards her husband, he continues to refute that he was the one who set the fire. Considering this, Athena decides to take him in for questioning at the precinct but Amir receive unexpected guests in the form of several armed men exiting a large car. Amir quickly guesses they are the ones who really started the fire and are connected to the cartel he and Bobby encountered. It is quickly noted the cartel has tracked the pair to L.A. for revenge. Amir decides to confront them, telling Athena they are here for him anyway and quickly surrenders to the cartel who promptly load him into the car. That night, Amir is brought to a warehouse before Herman, the grandfather of the gangster that Amir previously killed. Herman voices how he is happy to see him again while Amir questions what the cartel are doing in America. However, he hears Herman declares that he was never with them and after being arrested that he was made into an informant for the feds but he was exploiting them to get his revenge on Amir. Amir questions Herman if he thinks the feds will let him walk after they learn he killed a Firefighter in a housefire. Herman brings up how that will be overlook with lack of evidence before stating that firefighter left him to die on the road and he had to take away what he had. Amir asks Herman if he intends to hurt him like Bobby because if it is then he's too late but Herman states he was aware of that and like him, Amir has nothing to lose and nobody to count on, calling them kindred spirits. Disgusted by his twisted sympathy, Amir tells him to rot in Hell but Herman tells him to go first and takes out a knife to stab him to death. Fortunately, Athena (who followed them), appears and declaring to all "I'm Mrs. Bobby Nash" drops a lighter on the liquid, setting the building ablaze. As Herman and the cartel quickly flee the scene, while Amir takes down a remaining grunt but becomes stricken with shock at the scene. Athena approaches him and has him regain his wits to escape with her and outside they find Herman and his men being arrested for their crimes. Sometime later, he finds Bobby (who survived the fire and was released) in the wreckage of his house, commenting on the Cartel's actions. He tells Bobby that while he is uncertain of forgiving him, he is happy to know that Bobby is a much better man and advises him to keep on the path, before they shake hands.[2]
