Abigail "Abby" Clark is a former main character on 9-1-1 who worked as a 9-1-1 dispatcher in the Los Angeles area. She debuts in the first episode of the first season of 9-1-1 and is portrayed by Connie Britton.

History[]

Abby was a 911 dispatcher. She lived and cared for her mother, Patricia, who had Alzheimer's.

Feeling slightly stuck and unlucky in finding love (as her ex-boyfriend Tommy had left her a year prior), in "Pilot", Abby was introduced to Buck when he assisted Athena on a call where Abby had to help a young girl escape from two house robbers. After this, Abby and Buck frequently talked with one another on the phone. Over time, Abby eventually met Buck in person and the two began dating. Throughout the relationship, Abby constantly seeked advice from Carla Price on how to handle it.

After her mother died, Abby decided to begin stepping out into the world as she hadn't in a long time and left for Ireland. According to Buck, this trip became an "eat, pray, love" type of experience that eventually expanded to include more exploring more countries in Europe.

Returning to L.A. and Train Derailment[]

Abby later returned to L.A. in "Powerless", when she was involved in a serious train accident that caused the train to derail. She called in the incident to 9-1-1, where her call was answered by Buck's older sister Maddie. Abby then told Maddie what she needed to dispatch to the scene, and Maddie was surprised by how knowledgeable she was, remarking, "It seems like you've done this before." Abby then explained to Maddie that she used to be a 9-1-1 dispatcher.

In "What's Next?", while Abby was helping survivors of the crash evacuate from the train, she and Buck reunited briefly before she informed him that her fiancé Sam was stuck at the top of one of the cars that was vertical. After the crash, Abby and Buck met up again and Buck was mad that she was only sorry for him finding out about Sam that way. He asked her when she knew she was never coming back to him, and she said that she thought she would come back but was scared that if she did, she would return to a goal-less situation. They left amicably, and Buck said that he was happy she was happy now because she deserved it.

Abby first interacted with Buck while assisting him on a phone call where he thanked her for her duties as an operator. They became quick friends despite only talking on the phone. They were able to connect to each other just by phone until they finally meet face to face in "Point of Origin", when he helped her find her mother who had wandered off. They began dating after Valentine's Day in "Heartbreaker". After her mother died, Abby left for Ireland and Buck decided that they could remain in their relationship together in long-distance and stayed in her apartment. However, Buck eventually began to lose hope that Abby will ever return and had doubts about their relationship. In "Haunted", Buck decided to move on from Abby and he moved out of her apartment for good.
